About This Dog Training Site
Dogproblems.com was started by dog training author and publisher, Adam G. Katz in 1997. He is a member of the APDT (as of 2011, anyway. In the dog training field, being a member of an association is something anyone can do: You just pay them! Some of the best dog trainers you will encounter may or may not belong to any association).
Adam has been training professionally since 1992. He graduated from U.C. Berkeley with a degree in Interdisciplinary Field Studies, and then traveled the world and worked with some of the best trainers he could find. He continues to do that, actually– having returned from living in Colombia, Panama and Costa Rica… just a few years ago. And then most recently in Las Vegas– which is a big ‘dog training’ town, believe it or not. The largest dog training company in America is headquartered in Las Vegas.
Adam is the former owner of both: South Bay K-9 Academy and Adam’s Las Vegas Dog Training Company. Ads for his dog training information products have appeared in: DogWorld, DogFancy, DogSports and others. When the Dr. Phil show needed a dog for one of their shows… Adam is the guy they called. He has trained alongside most of the big name dog trainers over the past 20 years, at one time or another.
Adam’s philosophy is to try to learn everything he can; And then keep the best techniques and discard the rest.
All of the testimonials on this site are from real dog owners and professional trainers who have either worked with Adam or used his dog training system: Dog Training Success Stories
Wanna know the best way to tell if a dog trainer is worth his salt? It’s not by looking at an association roster, but rather by looking at Youtube. Or even better– go see him/her in person, if you can. Adam is the author of the best selling internet dog training book, “Secrets of a Professional Dog Trainer: An Insider’s Guide To The Most Jealously Guarded Dog Training Secrets In History!” as well as several dog training dvds, dog training audio lectures, videos and dog training information products for the professional dog training industry.

Sherry Major: has always had a love of animals for as long as she can remember. However, except for a cocker spaniel named Skippy and a budgie named Peter, there was limited opportunity to really nurture this affection growing up. As an adult though, there have always been animals under her care. In addition to having at least two cats at a time, there has been a miniature poodle and an Irish Setter who joined her clan at different times throughout her adult life. Today, Sherry shares her South Ottawa home with her husband, several cats and two miniature schnauzers (her “boys”). Since acquiring her two “boys”, Sherry has come to realize the strength of her love and fascination for dogs and their behavior. Her strong desire for a career change and her deep affection and concern for dogs and their environment led her to the Professional Dog Trainers course at Canadian Canine Training Academy. Even though she researched various dog training schools in advance and their methods of training used, searching for the “right” school to attend, she chose the Canadian Canine Training Academy. She was already familiar with the successful results of the methods of training used at Canadian Canine, having sent her own dog to the Academy for training several years ago and being amazed with the results. Having spent all of her career in the “business world”, Sherry’s experience working in a learning environment the last ten years compliments her abilities as a dog trainer. During this tenure, Sherry has completed several train-the-trainer courses, having been certified as an Instructional Designer/Developer. She has also achieved a Business Management certification through Algonquin College’s Ontario Management Development Program, as well as having completed some St. Francis Xavier modules towards a certificate in adult education. She has developed the strength of her interpersonal, communication and leadership skills throughout her business career by attending workshops, seminars and through self-learning. By successfully completing the professional dog trainers course, Sherry is now able to help and educate dog owners on how to develop the natural instincts and abilities of their dogs so that owners and canine companions can live in harmony together. An advocate of life-long learning, Sherry continues to improve her knowledge about dog behavior through self-learning, courses and reading, and through personal interaction with dog owners and their pets.http://www.ottawak9trainer.com
