Hi Adam

I am attaching a photo of me and my Best Friend - Logan.  I bought your book and videos about 8 months ago now and I can tell you that they have been used tremendously.  Logan always use to pull me on my walks and I just hated it.  He would not give me attention if his life depended on it.  Well I finally decided that his "life did depend on it".   I don't mean that in a "put him to sleep" way, what I meant was that if a  dangerous situation came upon us and he was not willing to provide me with the attention - or should I say respect, that I needed, then something disasterous would happen.

Well Logan is such a wonderful and obedient dog.  We used the remote collar for his recalls and I can say without a doubt, that Logan's recalls are 100% solid.  He now provides me with the attention that I need when walking him.  We are competing  competitively in obedience and at a recent fun match, Logan received High in Trial (11 dogs entered in total).  So you can only imagine how pleased I am for both myself and Logan.

It was very important for me to ensure that Logan is a well behaved and well socialized Rottweiler.  He is a 2 1/2 yr. old intact male so again you can see why it is very important that I am the driver in this car and that  Logan is the passenger.  Logan is an extremely high drive and well accomplished young man.  He received both his Am. and Canadian Championships prior to 15 months of age.  He has an advanced tracking title (TDX) which he garnered at the young age of 21 months.  I just want people to know who read your books that these methods work on all sorts of dogs.

Young, old, small, big, pets and show dogs.  I have read many many books on training but yours by far was the one that worked for us.  Logan was purely on positive training until about a year and then that stopped working so we had to go to a more intensive program.  Logan excelled at your program - I
am proud to say he is a full fledged graduate of the Adam Katz School of Training.  At no point in our training did I think that any of your methods were cruel or unusual.  They were magic and worked each and every time I
tried it.

I am a professional trainer and the training director of a large breed rescue. I pride myself on being "method free" (ie, anything goes as long as it is effective and fair to the dog) and use prong collars, electronics, and slip collars on many of the dogs in my care. It has been an uphill battle for me, in the face of well-meaning pet owners and other "trainers" who think that I'm part of the Spanish Inquisition! But finally, people have noticed how successfully these dogs and their new owners respond to real-world training.  And more importantly, how happy and well-adjusted they become. Many of them are surrendered for "behavioral problems" as diagnosed by the new wave of positive-only folks. My experience has proved that when a lot of these "trainers" can't solve a problem with devices designed for dolphins, horses or human children, they recommend euthanasia. Very positive, eh? I use to train shelter dogs for the local humane society, the behavior these dogs displayed did nothing positive toward getting them homes. I used the prong on most of them and within minutes the dogs were well on their way toward learning. I use prongs in my training program, my clients see the results quickly, this keeps the drop out rate low and the learning incentive high. It is motivating for clients to do the homework when they actually can see the results.

One last kudo to you and your book-- I loved the part about cookie trainers equal to giving someone directions and never telling them they went the wrong way! That is an awesome analogy of clicker trainers.

My son moved to the mainland (I live in Hawaii) and left Raider, his American Bulldog (female), with me. Raider was very difficult to walk, even as a puppy. She just made one year on January 14 and I've been trying to work with her since December 15.

Instead of walking she would drag the person walking her, including my son... she pulled so hard that she broke two leashes and a 1/2 inch thick rope... once a friend of ours used an old parachute line as a leash and she pulled so hard that the knot he tied started to come undone. I weigh 220 pounds and she used to drag me around like a rag doll and she probably only weighed around 65 - 70 pounds at the time.

Anyway, one day I opened her pen and she got away from me before I could get her leash on and I had a real hard time getting her to come, sit, stay or even look at me. That's when I decided to surf the Internet for dog training information / help... and, came upon Dogproblems.com and your book "Secrets of a Professional Dog Trainer!". I ordered your book on January 12th started reading the downloaded version that night and the next day took her out for "our" first training session.

Using your techniques and switching from a "Choke Chain" to a "Pinch Collar" I was able to stop her from pulling on the leash in less than 5 minutes. Now, when I open her pen she doesn't set her paws pass the gate unless I give her the release to come out... AND, when she comes out of the pen she doesn't dart away; instead, she comes to my side and sits.

I just had to write to you to say a huge "THANK YOU!!!" for your instruction. I've been checking out your website for nearly three years and had ordered your book and vids a while back. I've never emailed or anything simply 'cause your instructions are so simple and easy to use and my dog is a people-pleaser with no vices. But today was different. Not in my dog but
in a neighbor's.  This morning I was awoken by the sound of my neighbor frantically calling for his dog. It seems their front gate was open when she was let out this morn and she decided to "take a stroll". She's a sweet 2yr old (I think) beagle. Cute as a button and smart as a whip. But they've done no training with her outside of taking her for walks when the weather is
nice. She's been gone for nearly two hours now. They've scoured the neighborhood and haven't yet found her.

My dog likes to run around as well and takes every opportunity to do so. But he always looks to me. The two times he did take off around a house where I couldn't see him, all I had to
do was to tell him to come back and he did.  Running full-tilt to come to a stop at my side, panting with a huge doggie grin on his face! I realized this morning how wonderful it is to have used your techniques to train my loving dog to come when called, and to not stray far. He's such a good boy and we always get compliments when we're out. (We especially like to show
off at Petsmart where they use treats and clickers!!) So thank you again!

I found you as I was searching for help with my new puppy, Dante, a Parson Russell Terrier.  Even though I was exposed to his mother on a week long trip, I knew this dog was going to require a more direct approach in his training than my corgi.

And if I may brag a bit, Dante is now 6 months old and everyone compliments him on being the perfect little gentleman.  He does not jump on people, sits for his greeting, waits for me to go out the door, knows sit, heel, down, dead, wait, drop it, climb, off  and loves his crate.
Every dog owner who truly cares for their pet should have them in a pinch collar as soon as possible.  Dante was 4 months old when I found you and your wisdom.  Oh yes, Dante wanted out of that collar and he did swing around on the end of his leash and he tried all antics... but I
just kept on walking and turning and walking and turning.  After about 5 minutes he finally made the right choice and continues to be a dream to walk - either on or off the leash.  I love to watch him make his choices - me or a rabbit.  And so far, he keeps making the right ones!

I can't tell you how much your book and website SAVED our dog. I mean, literally SAVED her. Chloe is an adopted shelter dog of mixed breed. We think she has some Chow, Golden Retriever, and some sort of herding breed in her. We adopted her in July of 2007 and were told her age to be somewhere between 2 and 3 years old. The first year she lived with us, she was an angel. We took her everywhere with us and she was my running partner 5 or 6 days per week. We crate her when we are not home but she doesn't seem to mind. She is a fantastic runner and did long runs (I am a marathon runner) up to 15 miles with me.

We noticed behavior changes little by little but didn't put it all together until nearly a year and a half later. She showed signs of aggression towards strangers and became so unpredictable we were unable to take her anywhere with us. She would go after people on bikes, skateboards, or just walkers or other runners. She began to show signs of aggression towards me in our home when I tried to put her in her crate (or pull her off the bed) and she didn't want to go.

At my wit's end, I called several local resources (and some not so local). I called the shelter hotline, that guaranteed behavioral help. They would not deal with any aggression issues. I called pet behavior specialists who wanted $125.00 per hour. I got in contact with "America's Dog Whisperer" who GUARANTEED "curing" her for $500 in an afternoon. I am teacher and my husband is in medical school. We did not have the funding to do ANY of this. We were fighting and crying and finally decided to take her back to the shelter but feared she would be euthanized (even though they were a no-kill shelter, because she would've been labeled aggressive). Then we found your website online.

After reading the whole book we learned that she thought she was in charge of us! Her "aggressiveness" was just HER trying to correct US. We began doggy bootcamp and the nothing in life is free program right away and saw immediate results. After hard work and 2 months of following your training advice it is like I have a new dog. She LISTENS to me!!! She comes when I call her, sits and goes down when I ask her to and we even began running together again. The other weekend we did a Sunday morning run on a crowded bike/running path full of distractions (bikes, skateboards, runners, walkers, strollers). She was an ANGEL. I was so happy I almost cried. She is not perfect, but neither are we. We still have to correct her in the apartment at times but nothing like before. I am still very cautious and aware of EVERYONE around us while we are out running but she is making tons of progress. I get compliments from neighbors about how well-behaved she is! (I also notice a lot of neighborhood dogs and owners who could really use your book!)

Most importantly, she is a happier dog. She is getting her exercise (at least 2 miles of walking or running a day) and she is behaving so much better at home. She knows her limits. We even had houseguests twice in the past month for a few days and she was an angel with them too.

I think your book and website will (and probably already has) saved a lot of dog lives. How many other people were like us and thought we had an aggressive dog on our hands that couldn't be trained to live in a busy apartment complex with lots of strangers/distractions? How many people give their dogs back to the shelter where they are deemed "lost causes"? We are thrilled with the results and the training doesn't stop here. We have more work to do with her and confident in her abiliities.

Thank you so much from the bottom of our hearts (especially Chloe's!) I have attached 2 pictures of her. Yes she is on the couch for one of them, but that was before we trained her not to be! The other one is when she jumped in the bathtub one day.

This picture shows Boz (L.) and Carly (R.). They are best buddies.
I am sure that you already know this, but just in case your readers
are wondering, Boz is an American Staffordshire Terrier and Carly is
an American Pit bull Terrier.  The second picture is just Boz. 
 
I may be biased, but I really feel that Boz is a beautiful dog. Since
you are requesting pictures, I am looking forward to seeing other
peoples' beloved dogs, too!
