CINDY, PUGGY AND TEDDY
By Linda Llewellyn
Monday, Sep 01, 2008 04:55
I think I should mention here my other three dogs who all sadly passed away fairly recently, all within a 6 months period. The first one to go was Puggy, who was 16 years old. He was well named, as his name described him pugnacious, he was a black/white Pekingese. He came together with Teddy, a big boned cream Pekingese. He was only 14 years old when he died of heart failure. He only loved me and spent most of his life waring with Puggy for position. Puggy was an incredible intelligent dog. One of his tricks was if you gave all the dogs treats he would run to the front door bark, bark as if there was somebody there, all the other dogs would drop their treats to join in. Puggy would run back and pinch the treats and hide them in his bed. There are many more but I won't bore you with them.

The last to go was Cindy a standard Yorkshire Terrier bitch. She was only 12 years old. You say smile Cindy and she would give you a smile. She also kept the boys in check. Her favorite pastime was chasing rabbits and squirrels and many a time she brought back a rabbit and dropped it at my feet and it always seemed to happen in a Nature Reserve, to my embarrassment.

I miss them all but I feel blessed to have had them in my life.

LAI LA
By Linda Llewellyn
Thursday, Aug 28, 2008 08:29
Lai la is a big black solid Scottish Terrier bitch. She is the youngest of my dogs. She was four months old when I bought her from a reputable breeder where they mainly breed Alsations. She has the sweetest nature but only connects with me. If anybody comes into the house she hides under my chair, perhaps she was not properly socialised as a puppy. I am working on this behaviour and with encouragement she has improved slightly. The other day we went for a walk near here at Rye Harbour and was walking along the top of the dyke when a Rottweiler ponced on Lai la chasing her onto the mud flats and into the oncoming tide. Fortunately, the tide was coming in, with a struggle we managed to pull her out. I think I was more shocked than she was. We went on to have a lovely walk on the beach and a paddle.

PIP
By Linda Llewellyn

Pip has the sweetest nature. He is a neat compact Jack Russell cross in perfect proportion about 10 lbs, black and tan with white socks and a docked tail.

I picked him up at 5 weeks old outside a Happy Eater and I fell in love at first sight. This was against my better judgement to buy a puppy this way and he had not been weaned properly.

He is full of spunk and definitely an alpha dog. He will take on any large dog as fair game, but fortunately he can move fast. I always pick him up when I sense real danger.

I took Pip to dog training, He quickly learnt to sit, go to down position and stay. He can walk to heal brilliantly and as a party trick he can walk on his back hind legs..

In the winter he wears a little coat, as he feels the cold and he sleeps in my bed. I confess, he is like a little hot water bottle.

RENE
By LINda Llewellyn
Monday, Aug 25, 2008 08:59
Rene is a dachshund, a little larger than a mini but smaller than a standard He is a dappled dog. His colour is white, grey, black and has orange marks. You see his dappleness more in the summer because I trim his coat. He has lost most of his teeth now. I feel guilty of this because I should have brushed his teeth but will he open his mouth, forget it. He has the sweetest nature and exudes love to all especially old ladies because we visited old peoples nursing homes. The ladies adored him and seemed to cheer up when they saw him and he loved all the attention. He would sit on their laps and gave love. he seemed to know who to give the most attention to. Sadly, I had to stop going because Rene developed arthritis and it was beginning to pain him to be lifted.

Rene is perfect in every way but it is his bark that drives one mad. Mainly he barks in the back of the car. Nothing seems to stop him only when I talk will he shut up. Another little habit is digging his way out of the back garden. Today he went through the wooden fence and would he come back. After nearly pulling my hair out he sauntered back and looked at me as if to say 'what is all the fuss about'. My friends were hooting their horn to hurry me up. After mending the fence I went out.

I would like to introduce myself. I am a 63 year old lady who loves her dogs. I live on my own with my three dogs. Rene' is the oldest, he is 13 years old, a cross long haired/short haired dappled dachsund He loves everybody especially old ladies. My second dog is Pip actually my sons dog but mine really, he is a cross chihuahua/Jack Russell, about 4 years old. He has the little mans syndrome. The last member of the family is Lai La, a black Scottie who is now 2 years old. She hates other dogs. The above describes my doggies in outline.
